Story Time

A friend of mine recently introduced me to the wonderful world of Wattpad.

I originally just made an account so I could follow the story she was writing, but now I've discovered the fun of writing books on there as well!

Currently I'm writing one called Worlds Apart.
I'd really love if you'd go and read it.

If any of you happen to have a Wattpad account as well, please tell me your username in the comments so I can go and follow you!

So I guess that's my excuse for not blogging, I'm becoming an author, of sorts.
That and stupid homework.

Anyway, I'll see you (hopefully soon) in my next post!

Yay! I turned my camera on this morning and it's fine, so hopefully you'll be seeing more posts soon with some photos.

Camera Issues...

So, I plugged my camera into my computer to do some editing this afternoon.
It started flashing green quickly (according to my instruction manual, that means 'charging fault') and now it won't turn on for some reason.
I'm thinking maybe the computer 'sucked up' it's battery power (yes, my computer has done that before when it's not plugged into a power source), but I really don't know.
I'm going to try and charge it at a power point but otherwise I don't know what could be wrong with it, so I guess I won't have any new photos to post for a while until I somehow sort out the problem.
Any suggestions as to what might be wrong with my camera would be really helpful!

2. Come up with at least 5 fun questions for your nominees to answer.
3. Nominate at least 5 people who you think are amazing and have an amazing blog.

Uuhh, I didn't even know I was fabulous, so thanks xD. I guess I 6. Leave a comment on your nominees' blogs letting them know they've been nominated.
just be myself, and everything else just comes.
2. Are you currently writing anything?
I'm attempting a few stories, some of which I've been going on for a number of years, and I've kept a journal since I was about seven.

Loads of places! Sometimes I think of it while I'm reading someone else's blog, or browsing through Pinterest. Other times it just comes to me, and I think "Hey, I should do that!".
4. Favorite drink?
Peppermint hot chocolate with tons of marshmallows, homemade lemonade, red creaming soda, and spiders (fizzy drink with a dollop of ice cream). I guess I can't really choose!
5. What inspired your blog name?
Well, I probably don't have the most interesting or unique blog name out there, but it was the best I could think of at the time. I was thinking of changing it later on when I thought of something better, but I haven't yet.
I nominate...

Sophie
Dolly Dorm Diaries
The Edwards Girls
Violet
Lauren

Here are your questions:

1. What are three of your favourite books?
2. What's your general fashion style?
3. Any tips for new bloggers?
4. How'd you get to be so good at this thing called blogging?
5. What inspires you?

Sophie, I love reading your blog because I'm learning French at school, and I enjoy testing my knowledge. Also your design, and your videos, and I love how well your posts are written. They're so much fun to read!

Dolly Dorm Diaries, I love that each post is from a different doll's viewpoint, it's really creative! Your design is so happy and fun, and your photos are perfection!

Edwards Girls, your blog has come so far since it started. I love the unique name for your blog, and how it suits the whole theme of your posts and your design. It's beautiful!

Lauren, your dolls are beautiful, you're amazing, and your photography skills are fabulous! What more can I say?

Hope you all enjoyed reading this post, and I'll see you next time!

The Famous People Award

Hi there.
Lydia nominated me for the Famous People Tag, and now I'm doing it!

Here are the Rules:
Put up the Famous People Tag Button and link back to the person who tagged (nominated) you.
Answer the questions
Tag (nominate) the last 10 people that commented on your blog (excluding anonymytes or the person who tagged you)

1. Who is your favorite singer or group?
Hatsune Miku, The Andrews Sisters, and Taylor Swift. (Sorry, I couldn't choose between these three!)

2. If your favorite male actor was in the same room as you right now, what would your reaction be?
Don't know, because I don't think I have a favourite male actor.

3. Is there a famous person who you used to love, but you've suddenly changed your mind?
Well, I used to love the Wiggles as a kid, but I hate them now! I started not to like them anymore when Greg left. It wasn't the same then.

4. Name a famous person you like whose name starts with v.
I'm gonna be really smart here and say Ginger Rogers. Her real name was Virginia Katherine McMath before she became famous and changed it.
And of course, Vera Lynn.

5. What is one of your favorite red carpet dresses?
Taylor Swift, 2012

6. Who's your favorite royal person?
Prince George. He's such a little cutie!

7. Who is your favorite child actor/actress?
Shirley Temple!

8. Is there an actor/actress that you actually like all the private lives of?
No idea. I mean, most of them I have no idea what their private lives are like.

9. Do you think the actors/actresses have improved over the past 100 years?
In some ways yes, and other ways, no.

10. What is the weirdest famous people name?
Don't know, but Blaze Berdahl is one of the weirdest!
Oh yeah, and Iggy Azalea...

11. Do you think you look like a famous person? Which one?
You should tell me, guys! I don't know if I look like a celebrity, but I have golden brown medium length wavy-ish hair, green/hazel eyes, olive skin and dark brown eyebrows. What do you think?

12. Share your favorite famous person quote.
"As long as I can be with you, it's a lovely day" -Fred Astaire

13. Who's your favorite dancer?
Why did this have to be one of the questions? I'm kinda obsessed with dancing and have lots of favourite dancers. Do I really have to just pick one?
Jean Butler
Michael Flately
Ginger Rogers
Fred Astaire
And many, many, more.

14. Who is your favorite actress and why? When did you decide she was your favorite one?
I really love Ginger Rogers. I used to watch tons of her old movies with my Mum when I was a kid, and I loved watching her dance. I don't really know why I like her...

15. Have you ever met/seen/been near a famous person?
Nope...Not that I know of....

I nominate:
As well as anyone else who hasn't gotten this award yet, because there aren't quite ten different people who have commented on my blog!

Blogger Recognition Award

Hey Peeps!

So, Meghan nominated me for a blog award last year (thanks a lot, Meghan!), and now I'm finally getting round to posting it.

Here goes:

Rules:

  • Give a brief story of how your blog got started, and give a piece or two of advice to new bloggers. Thank whoever nominated you, and link to their blog. List who you've nominated in the post.
  • Make sure to also attach the award itself! (You can do this by right clicking, saving, and uploading the image.)
  • Comment on each blog and let them know you've nominated them. Provide a link to the award post you created.
  • Provide a link to the original post on Edge of Night. That way, anyone can find the original guidelines and post if needed, and we can keep it from mutating and becoming confusing! (It happens LOL.)
  •  For this award, you must nominate 15 bloggers. You can't just go "I nominate this blog whoever wants it comment below" like that. You can decline the award also if you do not want to do the above rules.
  • See the original rules  HERE.

This is what it looks like:

How/Why I started my blog:
I started my blog because I needed a creative outlet.
I'd had many blogs in the past, but had quickly bored of them, mainly because I was afraid to go "out there" and do a blog only really containing completely random bits of my life, instead of stuff about dolls, or silly stories I made up as a kid.
I started my first blog when I was about 6. It was because I'd always had an interest in writing, and showing other people my creations.
My mum was getting into the whole blogging world at the time as well, so she helped me to set up my first one.
I deleted it some time ago, and don't remember much of it, but I'll quickly tell you about some of the posts I remember writing on it.
One was about the Christmas story, or my interpretation of it. Accompanied by some rather silly looking drawings of Mary, Joseph, baby Jesus, and animals that I drew in my completely random notebook. I remember being asked by my Mother why on earth I drew Mary lying at the bottom of a hay stack, with baby Jesus lying at her feet, completely naked.
Unfortunately, I don't think I still have the photo to show you, but I'll load it on if I ever find it again.
Please don't ask, I have no idea why I drew that picture.
Another one was about how annoying a certain sister of mine was. It was because of a stupid imaginary game she was playing with my other sister and my Mum at the time, and I was getting sick of her going on about it.
That was another really stupid post.
Oh yeah, and I found a pretty beatle once when I was seven. I posted a picture of it, and I think I still have it, hang on...

I became very attached to that beatle. I called it "Beady" because I thought it looked like a pretty bead. I remember being devastated when I dropped it, because I thought it was going to die.
I don't remember what happened to it now, actually.
Okay, that's enough of my weird blog stories now. If you'd like to hear more of them, leave it in the comments below and I might be persuaded to do a post on old memories like these, I'll see.

My advice to new bloggers
One of the best things you can do, is just be yourself.

Just because your best friend has a doll blog, it doesn't mean you have to have one too, if you're not into that sort of thing. Maybe you like cooking, or animals instead?
Or maybe your life is too interesting and you decide to make a random blog with no particular theme.
Either way, your contribution to the blogging world is unique, just like you're a unique and one-of-a-kind person, and there's at least one person out there who really cares about you.

Oh yeah, and if you're having a bad blogging day, or run out of inspiration, take a rest!
Please don't feel like you have to keep posting just to please your followers.
Girl, if you just post when you can, and about whatever you want and people follow you, those people love what you're doing, and they're not just gonna leave because you haven't had time or inspiration to post!
(But if they do, trust me, they're not worth it, k?)
You will be more likely to lose followers if you're blogging every day, but not blogging about what you want to blog about.
The things you love, your passions.
Or if you're doing that, but every post is nearly the same.
Say you had a fashion blog, and, every day without fail, you posted a picture of your outfit.
You know, you can only do so many variations of the same clothing pieces, and people get a little bored seeing a picture of what you wear every day.
Sure, it reflects your style, but they want to know more about you than what you felt like wearing to your best friend's house last weekend.
I can't speak for everyone, but that's just my opinion, and I really hope it helped.

Now for my nominations.
I will try not to nominate anyone who's already done this award before, but sometimes, it happens.
If you have already done it, I'm not going to make you do it again!

I nominate:
J

I wish you the best of luck, and I hope you all have fun doing it!
Btw, I'm thinking of doing a Q&A next, what do you guys think? Please let me know if you'd be interested!

Life Update

Hey there!

Sorry I haven't posted for so long.

My life has been very busy.

I started school in February, for the first time (I've been homeschooled all my life until Feb).
That's been pretty fun, but also hectic, with all the homework and whatnot.

I'm going to the cinema to see "Cinderella" with some friends tomorrow, I'm so excited!!!
My dance concert went really well. It was a really long day, but lots of fun!

Also, I got into Lolita fashion recently.

For those of you who don't know, Lolita fashion is a fashion style that originated in Japan in the 90's. It has some rather Victorian modesty guidelines for wearing the fashion, such as:

  • Skirts cannot be any shorter than just above the knee, and no longer than mid-calf. (unless, of course, it is a ballgown)
  • Necklines cannot show cleavage.
  • Heels can be no more than 2 inches in height, but flats are not generally worn.
  • Clothing must have sleeves. (or you can wear a cardigan over the top or blouse underneath if you're wearing a JSK (short for Jumper skirt))
  • Legs are generally covered with stockings or long socks, but sometimes frilly ankle socks may be worn.
These are not all the rules, but they are the main ones.

Right now, I only own one Lolita JSK, but I'm going to make a dress for Easter, and hopefully a proper blouse to go underneath the JSK, and maybe buy some proper Lolita shoes.

So far I make all my Lolita stuff, because it's really expensive to buy, and I don't earn much money. Plus, then I get an end result that fits me perfectly, and I can customise it however I want to.

Okay, now this is just turning into a post about Lolita stuff, I'd better get back on topic.

I started Tap dancing this year. It's lots of fun, and I'm really enjoying it!
My class is learning the "Boogie Woogie" to perform in our concert this year.
It's a great dance.
My friends are attempting to teach me a Rock n' Roll dance that they did in a concert a couple of years ago.
It's a bit hard to remember, but it has lots of Charleston kicks, which are fun!

Last Sunday, some of my friends came over to visit. I hadn't seen them in seven and a half years, and we had a great time catching up together! I really wish they lived nearby so we could see them more often.

What's been going on in your world lately? Let me know in the comments below!
